Dear Mr. President is an ongoing polaroid portrait collaboration between Pop Up Polaroid and embroidery artist Ashley Catharine Smith that started as a direct response to the outcome of the 2016 presidential election. After engaging in conversation about what a Trump presidency means for the world as women. The subjects are photographed and then encouraged to make a statement directly on the Polaroid after it has developed. The Polaroids are then scanned, blown-up and printed on fabric where the text is rewritten in embroidery. The result is a visual representation of the various reactions to Trump’s administration and the future of this country from women and girls of all ages and backgrounds.
